Henningsen Cold Storage Opens Wine Services Division
(Hillsboro, Oregon), November 1, 2009 - Henningsen Cold Storage announces the opening of a new wine services division at its Forest Grove and Portland, Oregon facilities.
Located in the heart of Oregon's growing wine regions, Henningsen Wine Services, offers a wide variety of services including temperature-controlled bonded and tax paid wine and ale storage, multi-temp ingredient and packaging materials storage, local, regional and national transportation, distribution, order picking, fulfillment, and space for bottling, labeling and packing.
This is a natural progression for Henningsen, who has been building and operating multi-temperature warehouses since 1923. "We have the appropriate space, inventory management system, and the operational expertise of handling goods owned by someone else. We decided to leverage these strengths to the growing wine industry in Oregon," says executive vice president, Tony Lucarelli.
The Portland metropolitan area is a growing distribution hub for local and regional wine makers. The Portland and Forest Grove locations offer close proximity to wineries, and outbound freight consolidation opportunities. Additionally, other domestic and international wine makers and distributors have two more alternatives to cost-effectively get their product to market.
World-wide wine industry suppliers, like manufacturers of bottling and packaging materials, will also benefit from Henningsen's convenient proximity to the Port of Portland. Many of these items are imported from Asia. Their products can now be stored in the same warehouse as their customer's finished products, thus, closing the loop in the supply chain for local and regional wineries.
