Henningsen Opens Rail/Truck Transload Center

(Richland, Wash.) October 23, 2008 - Henningsen Cold Storage officially opened its newest operation . . . the Henningsen Transload Center located in Richland, Washington. This facility marks the 11th addition to our growing family of multi-temperature, full service, cold storage and logistics operations throughout the United States, and our 2nd operation in Richland.

This facility represents the formation of a unique partnership between the Port of Benton, the City of Richland, the Tri-City and Olympia Railroad and Henningsen Cold Storage. What started as a plan on paper a few years ago, has now materialized into an extremely cost effective way for shippers of all types of freight (frozen, refrigerated, dry and hard goods), to get their products to market.

Henningsen decided to build this new, state-of-the-art facility to handle the increased demand for shipping products by rail. For most companies, Transportation is the single highest cost component in their supply chain. For years, shipping products by truck afforded shippers the flexibility to move their products from processing facilities directly to their customers. Today, however, that model has changed. With skyrocketing and unpredictable fuel costs, shippers need an alternative to trucks, that offers similar flexibility and service to their customers while, at the same time, helps the shipper remain competitive.

The primary, competitive component of this facility is its strategic location. It has dual rail service. Shippers have their choice. Depending upon the ultimate destination, companies can ship their goods on either Union Pacific or Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail roads. With daily switching shippers will now have a location for consolidating rail shipments destined for virtually any market in the continental United States, Canada or Mexico. If your destinations are Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Toronto, or even Mexico City, the Henningsen Transload Center is your conduit to make those shipments happen!

With over 85 years of cold chain expertise with Henningsen, shippers can be confident that their goods will be handled, with the utmost care, from origin to destination.
