(Portland, Oregon) November 18, 2007 . . . Henningsen Cold Storage Co. announces plans to construct a new 5.3 million cubic foot temperature controlled Logistics Center to support the growing demand customers in the greater Portland metropolitan marketplace. Construction will begin immediately with completion in the summer of 2008.
The facility will be located in the Portland suburb of Gresham, less than one mile from Henningsen’s existing Portland operation at Exit 13, off Interstate 84. Phase I will offer at least 16,000 pallet positions, with a variety of configurations and temperature ranges. The eventual build out of the facility will be nearly 10 million cubic feet.
The facility is designed specifically for high-volume throughput, with a flexible racking design and layout enabling Henningsen to meet a variety of customer requirements including case-pick consolidation and cross docking of temperature-controlled food products. Henningsen Transportation Services will augment the operation by offering local, regional and nationwide transportation services to manufacturers, retail and foodservice distributors, and international customers utilizing the new facility.
Executive Vice President, Tony Lucarelli said, This is the first new logistics center Henningsen has opened since 1999, and it will be a new generation facility with maximum flexibility and utilization to meet our ever growing and diversifying customer base."
