(Hillsboro, Oregon), August 2007 – Henningsen’s Temperature Controlled Logistics Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania has recently become one of an elite group of employers to be awarded SHARP status by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). Scranton joins our Twin Falls, Idaho and Grand Forks, North Dakota operations in being SHARP certified.
SHARP (Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program) recognizes employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. A SHARP certified facility is exempt from programmed OSHA inspections.
- Receiving SHARP status is not an easy task. In order to become SHARP certified a facility must: Request a consultation visit that involves a complete hazard identification survey, correct all hazards identified by the consultant and the facility must implement and maintain a safety and health management system that, at a minimum, addresses OSHA's 1989 Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines.
- Once those achievements have been made, you must also lower your company's Lost-Workday Injury and Illness rate and Total Recordable Case Rate below the national average as well as agree to notify your state Consultation Project Office prior to making any changes in the working conditions or introducing new hazards into the workplace.
"Receiving the SHARP certification is an outstanding achievement. SHARP reinforces our commitment to being an excellent and safe business partner and employer of choice in the communities we serve", says Mike Henningsen Jr., Chairman and President of Henningsen Cold Storage Co. "Henningsen has placed safety as a core value in its business plan.” “Henningsen would like to thank all our associates at Scranton for their hard work and dedication to achieving SHARP status. We are looking forward to having all our locations SHARP certified over the next year."
